Cherry Barbs

Cherry barbs, Puntius titteya, are an often overlooked fish endemic to Sri Lanka. This is due to the fact that they have less colour as juveniles which is when they're usually sold. They're easy to sex with males getting a deep red colour whilst females are a lighter orange. They are an easy fish to maintain, accepting a pH range from 6-8 and temperatures from 73-81°F. Since they only grown to 2 inches, you could have a larger shoal of them in your aquariums. They can live in a species only tank as small as 10 gallons but should be in a larger tank if kept in a community.
