Gold Rams
Gold Rams
Gold Rams, Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi var. 'Gold', are a colour variant of the German Blue Ram. German Blue Ram's can be found in Venezuela and Colombia but it's unlikely you'd find Gold Rams in the wild as they're a captive bred variant. These beautifully striking fish come mostly with a yellow-gold body, red tinges on their fins and the characteristic iridescent blue speckling of the German Ram.
These fish are a great addition to a community tank with tank mates like smaller tetras, corydoras, plecos, guppies and discus. Gold Rams can grow up to 3 inches but usually make out between 2-3 inches. They do prefer warmer water between 78-85°F (25.5-29.5°C) and it is recommended to keep the water at these temperatures as they can get stressed easily in colder water which could lead to health issues.
It is recommended to keep them in a 20+ gallon tank and the water should have a pH range between 5.5-7.
