Otocinclus Catfish

Otocinclus Catfish, also called Dwarf Sucking Catfish, are a genus of South American catfish that consist of roughly 20 known species. This particular species is the common otocinclus or O. vittatus. They typically grow to 1.5-2 inches and can be kept in 10+ gallon tanks. Oto cats have a horizontal black line that runs down their gray-brown bodies and have white bellies.

These catfish are active during the day and you will usually find them grazing on algae in your tank. They're incredibly peaceful and a welcome addition to any community tank. Common tankmates include tetras, rasboras, corydoras, kuhli loaches, snails, and dwarf shrimp.

They prefer water temperatures between 70-79°F (21-26°C) and a pH of 6.0–7.5.
