Red Neon Rainbowfish are also commonly known as Red Neon Blue-Eyes or Pseudomugil luminatus. It has only been reported in the wild being located in swamps near Timika, Papua, Indonesia.

The males are more colourful than their female counterparts, sporting neon red-orange bodies and blue eyes. They also have an iridescent blue line that runs along their backs. The pectoral fins are higher up on their body which make them look like they're waving little yellow arms instead of fins.

Red Neon Rainbowfish should be kept in 15-20+ gallon aquariums because they're active swimmers and prefer to be kept in groups. Suitable tank mates include smaller danios, rasboras, snails, corydora and oto cats. Softer water with a pH range 6-7.5 and a temperature between 68-82°F (20-27°C) is recommended.
